What it brings you

More than a method to teach. You leave with a complete programme, a deeper personal practice and the confidence to guide parents through it.

A complete, tested eight-week programme with a trainer manual and parent workbook, ready to deliver

A deeper practice of your own, which carries over into every other part of your work

A natural addition alongside the children's or adolescent training, so you can work with the whole family

Certification in the Eline Snel Method and a place in AMT's international network of trainers

Inside the training

First experience it. Then learn to teach it.

You follow the full eight-week Mindful Parenting programme yourself before you learn to guide it. That order matters. Parents notice quickly whether a trainer speaks from experience or from a script. Along the way you deepen your own practice, get to know the theory and the materials, and step by step take the trainer's seat.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

01
The structure and essence of the eight-week parent programme

Each week has its own theme, a core exercise and a clear link to everyday family life. You learn how the weeks build on each other, what each one is really about, and why the order is the way it is.

02
Compassion, self-compassion and your own boundaries

Working with parents touches your own history, as a child and perhaps as a parent. You learn to recognise transference, meet your own reactions with kindness, and stay in the trainer's role.

03
How to prepare and lead a session

Working with the trainer manual and the parent workbook. Timing, group size, the balance between practice, conversation and theory, and what to do when a session does not go to plan.

04
What research suggests about mindfulness and parenting

What studies indicate about parental stress, automatic reactions and the parent-child relationship, and just as important, what we can and cannot claim.

05
The art of inquiry: guiding a real conversation with parents

Parents rarely need more advice. You learn to ask questions that help them notice what they already know, to stay with what comes up, and to resist the urge to fix it.

06
Embodying mindfulness yourself

Your own practice is the foundation of everything you teach. The training includes a silent morning and ongoing attention to how you practise between the training days.

07
Intake, group dynamics and evaluation

How to hold intake conversations, decide whether the programme is the right fit, work with very different family situations in one group, and evaluate a training in a meaningful way.

08
Bringing the programme into your practice, school or organisation

How to offer Mindful Parenting in your own context, reach parents, work with schools and other organisations, and make use of AMT's materials and network of certified trainers.

THE PROGRAMME YOU’LL TEACH

Mindful Parenting

Mindful Parenting is an eight-week programme for parents and carers of children aged 4 to 16, developed by Eline Snel as part of the Eline Snel Method. It starts where parents are: the morning rush, the argument that flares up again, the moment you hear yourself say something you did not mean.

Week by week, parents learn to notice what is happening in themselves before they react. They practise with attention, stress, emotions, thoughts, communication, compassion and trust, always in the context of everyday family life. Not to become a perfect parent, but to have more choice in the moments that matter.

As a trainer, you learn not only what to teach, but how to create the space in which parents discover these things for themselves.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Who can become a Mindful Parenting Trainer?

The training is designed for professionals who work with parents and families, such as mindfulness trainers, therapists, coaches and professionals in education, healthcare or family support.

Do I need previous mindfulness training?

The training builds on your own experience of mindfulness. A regular personal mindfulness practice is important, as you will first experience each part of the programme yourself before learning how to guide others through it.

Do I need to be a parent myself?

No. You do not need to be a parent yourself. What matters is your professional experience with parents or families, your mindfulness practice and your willingness to explore your own patterns and responses as part of the training.

How is the training structured?

The training follows the eight weeks of the Mindful Parenting programme itself. There are eight full training days, each centred around one of the eight themes, followed by a final morning of mindfulness practice in silence. You first experience the programme yourself, then gradually move from observing to practising and leading complete sessions.

How much time should I expect to invest?

The training includes eight full training days and a final 3.5-hour practice morning. Between training days, you complete the same home practice that parents will later do in your own groups, so allow time for your personal mindfulness practice and preparation as well. Next to that you will lead a pilot group with a minimum of 3 parents.

Ready when you are.
