How to become a Mindful School
A Mindful School grows step by step. We train people from within your own team, support the introduction in the school and help you build a structure that can continue year after year.

Four phases. Built to last.
Becoming a Mindful School is not about adding another temporary programme. Over two school years, the method gradually becomes part of everyday school life, carried by your own trained teachers.

1–3 months
Introduction & preparation
We start by getting to know your school, your vision and what your team needs. Together, we decide which teachers will be trained and appoint a Mindful School coordinator who helps keep the approach connected across the school.

± 6 months
Training
Selected teachers complete the AMT Child Trainer programme and become certified in the Eline Snel Method. Personal practice is an essential part of the training, so teachers experience the method themselves before bringing it to children. During this phase, the wider team is introduced to the approach and prepared for the next step.

One school year
Implementation
The trained teachers begin delivering the eight-week programme in their own classrooms. Parents are informed, the wider school team is involved, and short mindfulness practices help keep attention and awareness part of everyday school life. As the programme becomes part of the rhythm of the school, it no longer feels like something introduced from outside. It begins to take root within the school itself.

Continuity
Ongoing
The programme returns each year, new colleagues are introduced to the approach and the coordinator helps maintain quality and continuity. Over time, mindfulness becomes part of how the school supports attention, emotional awareness and resilience, not just during a programme, but in everyday school life.
What is needed?
A small team can create lasting change
The number of certified teachers depends on the size of your school.
Up to 400 pupils
400–600 pupils
600+ pupils
In addition, each Mindful School appoints a coordinator, involves the wider team in the approach and ensures that every class has access to the eight-week programme and continues to practise attention regularly throughout the school year.

The investment
An investment that stays in your school.
Instead of paying for an external programme year after year, you invest in the people who are already part of your school. Once trained, teachers can continue bringing the method to new groups of children each year.

Guidance on keeping the approach embedded over time
Start with a conversation.
Every school is different. Tell us where you are now, what you hope to create and what your team needs. We will explain the Mindful School approach and explore together what a realistic path could look like for your school. No commitment. Just a first conversation.
Good to know
Questions, answered.
That depends on the size of your school. We recommend at least two certified teachers so the approach is never dependent on one person. Larger schools need a slightly larger trained team to make implementation realistic and sustainable.
No. A core group of teachers completes the full AMT Child Trainer programme. The wider team is introduced to the approach so there is a shared understanding and language across the school.
The process develops over approximately two school years. This gives your teachers time to train, practise, introduce the programme to children and gradually embed it into everyday school life.
Because the approach is built around a team rather than one individual, knowledge stays within the school. New colleagues can be trained over time so the Mindful School approach continues to grow with your team.
The core quality standards remain the same, but every school is different. We look at your size, existing wellbeing approach, team and practical possibilities and shape the implementation around your context.
