What it is

Learning to meet life as it is

We cannot always change what happens in our lives. We can, however, learn to relate differently to stress, difficult emotions, thoughts and physical sensations.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a structured eight-week mindfulness programme. Rather than trying to clear the mind or avoid difficult experiences, you learn to notice what is happening as it unfolds and to respond with greater awareness.

Through meditation, mindful movement, reflection and practice in everyday life, you gradually become more familiar with your own patterns and automatic reactions. You learn to recognise stress earlier, listen more closely to your body and create more space between what happens and how you respond.

The programme consists of eight weekly 2.5-hour sessions, supported by regular home practice between sessions.

‍
