Child, Youth
Surbhi Kakar
I am a former data scientist, now a yoga and mindfulness teacher in Amstelveen. I give courses and workshops to children and adults, rooted in more than five years of practice in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.
I have worked in many professions, from lecturer to researcher to data scientist. Now, including my body and not just my mind, I teach yoga and mindfulness, giving courses and workshops to adults and children. What inspires me is seeing how all of us have the capacity to pass on the lightness and joy in our hearts to the people around us, including children.
I have been a mindfulness practitioner in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh for more than five years. Sitting, walking and eating meditation are part of my daily life, and they bring relaxation and joy into my work. When I teach, I also use my intuition to feel what the children in front of me need right now, rather than being too strict about completing a lesson. A moment I will not forget: a parent telling me her child suddenly stopped before eating, smelled the food and took the time to really taste it before swallowing.
