After completing the Course to become a Mindfulness Child Trainer, you can further specialize with the Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer. This two-day follow-up course qualifies you to train young people and students from 12 to 19 years according to the Eline Snel Method. You will learn to address the specific challenges and needs of this age group and support them in developing mindfulness skills.
The Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer can also be followed independently, without the prior Child Trainer course. In that case, the full training duration consists of six intensive days, in which you will learn to master both the basics of mindfulness and the specific application with young people. This allows you to help young people better deal with stress, concentration problems and the challenges of adolescence.
Course Mindfulness Youth Trainer
The specialization to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer takes place during two training days and is accessible to those who have completed the Course to become a Mindfulness Child Trainer. If you have not yet completed this course, you must complete the entire 6-day Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer.
During the course, you are expected to give a ten-week pilot to a group of young people. A supervision meeting will take place halfway through this pilot. After completion, you will write a reflection report. Upon approval of the pilot and the report, you will receive the Mindfulness Youth Trainer certificate in the Eline Snel Method. This certificate qualifies you to train young people from 12 to 19 years old in mindfulness.
Level and study load
The course to become a youth mindfulness trainer is designed at HBO level and offers an extensive basis for professionally guiding young people in mindfulness.
2-day specialization:
The Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer Specialization comprises a total of 56 hours:
– 16 hours of training at the Academy for Mindful Teaching incl. supervision/interim coaching
– 6 hours of studying mandatory literature and preparing lessons
– 30 hours of preparation and execution of a pilot training of ten weeks
– 4 hours of writing a final assignment
6-day full course:
The Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer comprises a total of 97 hours:
- 45 hours of training at the Academy for Mindful Teaching incl. preliminary discussion, supervision/interim coaching
- 20 hours of studying required literature and preparing lessons
- 24 hours of preparation and implementation of a ten-week pilot training
- 8 hours of writing a final assignment
Learning outcomes Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer
Main learning outcome:
- Upon certification, the participant will be able to independently deliver a mindfulness training for young people aged 12-19 in schools, private practice, or their own institution, based on the principles of the Eline Snel Method.
Sub-learning outcomes:
- The participant knows the structure, composition, and essence of the lessons in the Eline Snel Method and the trainer's manual, and can follow these in practice.
- The participant understands the art of inquiry and can conduct conversations with young people based on this theory.
- The participant understands the importance of (self-)compassion and the dangers of transference, and can apply this knowledge in the lessons.
- The participant can name the effects of mindfulness on the development of young people and the adolescent brain.

What can you expect from AMT trainers during the course?
During the AMT course, you can count on the warm involvement of the trainers. Thanks to their many years of experience in teaching according to the Eline Snel Method in various settings, such as regular and special education, mental health care, hospitals and private practices, they have built up a wealth of knowledge. Our goal is to guide you as well as possible throughout the entire training process.
What do we expect from you?
To obtain the certificate, you must meet the following conditions:
- Embodiment of mindfulness during and after the lessons.
- 100% attendance of all training days (catching up in another group is possible).
- A mandatory supervision meeting to monitor and deepen your personal learning process.
- Make your own appointment for the supervision meeting with a supervisor.
- Performing a pilot training in your own target group (at least three children/young people who are not family).
- Writing a report of 12 to 14 pages about your pilot experiences.
- After certification, make the frog quality mark visible on all your own promotional material and your website.
Condition for participation
- Completion of the Course to become a Mindfulness Child Trainer (only if you want to follow the specialization)
- Completion of an eight-week MBSR or MBCT training by a certified trainer. Or completed participation in the eight-week Mindful Parenting & Teaching training. This eight-week training must be completed before the start of the course
- Working with young people (or intending to) from 12 to 19 years old in school, private practice, institution or after-school care
- Participation in a Mindfulness silent retreat of at least five consecutive days to deepen your own mindfulness practice. This silent retreat must be completed within 2 years after the start of the Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer. If you have previously done a five-day Vipassana or similar silent retreat, you can be exempted from this by showing us your proof of participation.
After your certification, an annual refreshment course of 6-8 hours is mandatory.
Certification and Refresher Training
Certification as a Mindfulness youth trainer according to the Eline Snel Method takes place after 100% attendance, successful completion of a pilot, conducting a supervision meeting and submitting an approved report with feedback from the trainer. After certification, each youth trainer receives a certificate and a personalized frog logo, the official quality mark of our training. This quality mark may be visibly used on all your PR material, website and correspondence.
After certification, you will also be registered with "Find a trainer" on our website. To keep this registration active, it is mandatory to follow annual refresher training.
In addition to the annual refresher training, there are also further training opportunities. You can choose to follow the Mindfulness Trainer in Education & Parenting Course. This course qualifies you to offer teachers, parents and care professionals a full eight-week Mindfulness training.
Costs Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer
This Course to become a Mindfulness Youth Trainer at the AMT costs € 695 for the specialization and € 1795 for the 6-day course. This price includes:
- Two copies of the Eline Snel Method trainer's manuals, for both the 12-14 and 13-19 age groups.
- 1 supervision session (any additional supervision sessions cost 75 euros)
- One sample set of materials for the young people
- AMT PowerPoint presentation for giving an information evening (to parents or colleagues)
